The California Public Records Act was originally enacted prior to the proliferation of the internet, email and smart devices. Compliance with the Act in the digital age has become increasingly difficult as recognized by the California Supreme Court in City of San Jose v. Superior Court (2017) 2 Cal.5th 608. This presentation will explore the current state of the law as well as practices and strategies put in place by local educational agencies to ensure the increasing demands of the Act are met.
