Brent began his career in education in 1996, teaching 4th and 5th grade for 15 years before transitioning into administration. For nine years he served as the principal of Alta Murrieta Elementary in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, and in 2022 he moved into the role of Coordinator of Elementary Education, supporting staff and families in all 11 elementary schools in his district.

He loves sharing what he has learned through Twitter (@brentcoley), his blog, his "Teaching Tales" podcast, and speaking engagements. In 2019, Brent became a published author, releasing Stories of EduInfluence: 10 Life-Changing Powers to Unleash in Your School with EduMatch Publishing. Described by one reader as "Chicken Soup for the Teacher's Soul," each chapter contains personal stories from more than two decades in the classroom and front office, stories illustrating the life-changing power all educators possess. In 2022, he self-published his children's book titled The Gift, an illustrated tale for ages 8 and up filled with adventure, courage, hope, and a reminder that good things come to those who persevere.

When not working, Brent loves spending time with his wife and two children. He also enjoys reading and playing golf.
